Shoe Cleaning

Every pair treated like it matters. Because it does.

Your shoes go through a lot — and the right cleaning can make a significant difference to both how they look and how long they last. At Luna Dry Cleaning, we clean all types of footwear using methods suited to each material, removing dirt, odour, and staining while protecting the structure and finish underneath.

Whether it's a pair of everyday sneakers that need a refresh, leather dress shoes that have seen better days, or winter boots heading into storage after the cold season, we handle each pair with the same level of care and attention to detail.

What We Clean

Every material, treated the right way

From leather to mesh, every material gets the method it needs.

If your shoes need something and you don't see it listed, just ask, we're happy to take a look.

Premium Leather

Premium Leather

Leather needs conditioning as much as cleaning. We start with gentle cleansing and scuff removal, then finish with deep conditioning to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. Your shoes leave in better shape than they arrived.

Suede/Nubuck

Suede/Nubuck

Suede requires specialist handling. We use delicate dry-brushing and nap-reviving solutions to lift dirt and restore texture — no water, no flattened finish. Your suede and nubuck leave looking refreshed, not compromised.

Knit/Mesh

Knit/Mesh

Dirt embeds deep in open weaves and tight knits. We use deep-penetrating foam cleansers to lift it without stretching or distorting the material, keeping the structure and fit intact.

Canvas/Nylon

Canvas/Nylon

Canvas and nylon pick up everything: grease, grass, ground-in grime. We use targeted stain removal to lift stubborn marks without bleaching out colour or weakening the fabric.

Premium/Designer

Premium/Designer

High-end shoes require extra care at every step. We treat premium and designer footwear with additional attention to finishing, ensuring nothing is rushed and every detail is accounted for before the pair leaves our hands.

Our Process

From first look to final conditioning

Every pair assessed, cleaned, and finished with the same level of care.

1
Detailed Inspection
Before we begin, every pair of shoes undergoes a thorough assessment. We identify the material, whether leather, suede, mesh, or canvas, and examine any stains or areas of concern to determine the safest and most effective cleaning approach.
2
Deep Surface Cleaning
Our team tackles embedded dirt, stubborn scuffs, and built-up grime across every surface. Special attention is given to the rubber midsoles and undersoles, where dirt tends to accumulate the most.
3
Deodorization & Sanitization
A clean shoe goes beyond the surface. Our process targets odor-causing bacteria within the insoles and interior lining, eliminating them at the source to leave every pair feeling and smelling fresh.
4
Material Conditioning
For leather and suede shoes, we apply premium conditioners to restore flexibility, prevent cracking, and revive the material's original color and finish, keeping your footwear looking its best for longer.

Care Tips

Keep them looking good between cleans

The right habits vary by material. A little consistency goes a long way toward extending the life of your footwear.

Sneakers
- Avoid the machine wash, it does more damage than the dirt
  • Remove laces and insoles periodically. Both accumulate odour and dirt faster than the shoe itself.
  • Air them out after each wear rather than sealing them in a bag or box while still warm.
  • Avoid machine washing where possible, since heat and agitation break down adhesives and distort the midsole over time.
  • Stuff with paper towels after cleaning to help them hold their shape as they dry.
Leather
- There's a step most people skip entirely
  • Wipe down after each wear with a dry cloth to remove surface dust and moisture before it settles in.
  • Condition every few months to keep the leather supple. Dried-out leather cracks faster than it scuffs.
  • Use shoe trees when storing to hold the shape and absorb residual moisture from the interior.
  • Keep away from direct heat sources like radiators, which dry out and warp leather quickly.
Suede/Nubuck
- Water is the enemy, what to do instead
  • Brush lightly after each wear with a suede brush to lift the nap and prevent dirt from embedding.
  • Never use water to spot-clean suede, since it leaves watermarks that are difficult to reverse at home.
  • Store in a breathable dust bag rather than a sealed box to prevent the surface from flattening.
  • A suede protector spray applied after a professional clean adds a meaningful layer of resistance.
Boots
- Salt stains left overnight are a different problem entirely
  • Treat salt stains as soon as they appear. If left to dry, salt draws moisture out of leather and leaves permanent tide marks.
  • Store upright with a boot shaper or rolled magazine inside to prevent the shaft from creasing or collapsing.
  • Clean and condition before putting away for the season, not when you take them out. Damage accumulates in storage.
  • Let wet boots dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat.
Premium/Designer
- When in doubt, don't try it at home
  • Store in the original dust bags and boxes where possible, they're designed for the specific material.
  • Rotate wear if you own multiple pairs; wearing the same pair daily accelerates sole and upper wear significantly.
  • When in doubt, bring them to us before attempting anything at home. Premium materials are the least forgiving of mistakes.
Seasonal cleaning
Seasonal Cleaning

Clean before you store, not after you unpack

Most shoe damage happens in storage, not in wear.

Salt residue, untreated stains, and trapped moisture all do their worst work over months, not days. Clean before you put them away, not when you take them out, and your shoes will last significantly longer for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why shouldn't I just put my sneakers in the washing machine?
Washing machines are harsh on footwear. The tumbling action can warp the shape, weaken structural adhesives, and cause midsoles to separate. Standard detergent and heavy water soaking can also permanently damage delicate materials like suede, nubuck, and premium leather. We use material-safe solutions and hand-cleaning techniques to protect the integrity of your shoes throughout.
What materials and brands do you clean?
We clean almost all materials: canvas, mesh, knit (Flyknit, Primeknit), smooth leather, patent leather, vinyl, rubber, nylon, and delicate suede or nubuck. We regularly service everything from everyday runners and athletic sneakers (Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Brooks) to premium streetwear (Jordans, Yeezys) and luxury designer brands (Gucci, Balenciaga, Prada).
Can you remove deep stains like grease, oil, grass, or ink?
We have specialist spot-treatment solutions for tough stains and successfully remove or significantly reduce the vast majority; including mud, grass, salt, and food. The final result does depend on how long a stain has had to set, so the sooner you bring your shoes in after a spill, the better the outcome.
Do you clean the inside of the shoe as well?
Yes. A proper refresh means the whole shoe. Our service includes an interior deep clean that sanitises the lining and insoles, eliminating the bacteria that cause odour rather than just masking it.
How long does it take?
Because we don't use heat dryers (which can shrink shoes and crack leather), all footwear is air-dried naturally in a climate-controlled environment. Standard turnaround is 7 days, ensuring your shoes leave completely dry, conditioned, and ready to wear.
